The squads that will represent Australia at the Federation of Oceania Rugby Unions (FORU) Noosa International Sevens (3-5 October) have been announced, with three new faces named in Geraint John’s Men’s squad.
Michael Wells, who last week signed a full-time contract with the Sevens program, has been named in John’s squad. Forward Harry Bergelin, from the Macquarie University North Harbour Rays, and winger Alex Northam will also join the squad for the trip to Queensland.
There’s a new name in town and it’s going to put Noosa firmly on the national sporting map.
International sports management company NewStar, sportswear manufacturer Matai and the Noosa Dolphins rugby club have joined forces to create a specialist sevens team which will compete in events around Australia in the coming months.

Organisers revealed today that another 36 teams have confirmed they’re bound for Noosa, following on the coat-tails of 19 full international teams including Pacific powerhouses New Zealand, Australia, Fiji and Samoa.

Teams from 12 nations, including Pacific powerhouses New Zealand, Australia, Fiji and Samoa, will be spending up to a week on the Sunshine Coast in October for the event which will form the centrepiece of this year’s Noosa International Sevens festival.
